Braking the Cycle Program – Queensland Police Youth Welfare Association

The Police Citizens Youth Welfare Association ‘Braking the Cycle’ learner driving mentoring program is helping young people from diverse backgrounds overcome difficulties in gaining 100 hours of supervised on-road driving. The program helps with skills development, improved confidence and wellbeing, and leads to increased job opportunities.

With 781 volunteer community mentors across the State, the program has helped over 11,000 participants achieve their driving hours. In 2022, 84 per cent of participants from diverse backgrounds entered employment or further training after obtaining their license.
