Proposed amendment to protected area estate
Proposed protected area amendment – Forest reserves – public notice required pursuant to Section 70K of the Nature Conservation Act 1992
The Department of Environment, Science and Innovation gives notice of the proposed dedication of:
- Parts of Kuranda West Forest Reserve, described as lots 2, 3 and 24 on AP19345, containing an area of about 3,711 hectares, about 33 kilometres north-west of Cairns within the locality of Mount Molloy and Mona Mona, as additions to Kuranda National Park.
The Department is also seeking views in consideration of the Human Rights Act 2019, including Aboriginal peoples’ and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultural rights.
Any entity may comment about the proposal to the chief executive of the Department of Environment, Science and Innovation, in writing and directed to tenureservices@des.qld.gov.au or Tenure Services, PO Box 15187, City East, QLD, 4002.
Comments received between 2 April and 7 May 2024 will be considered by the department.
Amendments to the QPWS estate under the Nature Conservation (Forest Reserves) Regulation 2000 and the Nature Conservation (Protected Areas) Regulation 1994 are administered by the Department of Environment, Science and Innovation.
